What’s that? A– a STYLE post?! I know: it’s been eons since I’ve actually blogged an outfit (as opposed to just Instagramming it and calling it a day). What can I say: it’s been a nutty last few months for me and, with my newly not-employed-by-corporate-America status, acquiring clothes hasn’t exactly been a priority lately. That said, I did find a few treasures on the cheap through this season’s post-holiday sales, including the blazer, cami and shoes you see above.

I knew that these pieces would work well with these jeans I already owned, which may look familiar as they’ve made an appearance on the blog numerous times (see here and here). As a style hobbyist and unapologetic clotheshorse, one of the things I get asked about the most is how to wear jeans to work and still look like a boss, and this little ‘fit I cobbled together fits that bill like a glove, if I do say so myself.

For denim at work, the rules are fairly simple: dark wash, good fit, no rips or embellishments. This pair is in a super dark wash and high-rise fit that makes them as versatile as any work trouser. Paired with a black cami, it creates a long, flattering line to showcase the stars of the show here: the blazer and shoes are both modern spins on perennial classics and are perfect avenues to show some personality and add a playful punch to the overall look.

I can already tell that this outfit is going to be a standby for me: it’s tailored but not stuffy; pulled together but not predictable. I feel comfortable and like myself in these pieces, so it’s a look I’ll be repeating for sure.

What’s your go-to pair of work jeans?
