should Old Acquaintance be forgot

Well, folks, here we are: at the threshold of another year.  Hard to believe that 2012 is over, but on the other hand, it seems like this year was a LONG one, only because a lot of (mostly great) stuff happened.  My abridged 2012 year-in-review:

  • Seattle saw snow in mid-January.  This displeases us.
  • I went to Mexico in February with my family.  We drank, played in the sun, and enjoyed each other’s company. It was awesome.
  • Some other stuff probably happened in here, but it’s probably not worth mentioning.
  • I decided I liked the sun and warm weather so much that I packed up my stuff and moved to Austin in May.
  • My friends got married, had babies, bought houses, and did many other adult things.  I sent my congratulations and admired from afar, respectfully declining to participate in such grown-up activities.
  • Trip to Miami in September with some great people.  More awesomeness, tomfoolery, and friendships strengthened through shared “Did that just happen?” moments.
  • Fashion shows, football games, work, writing, running, yoga, and eating and drinking my way through my new city.  I decide that Austin and I are well-suited to each other and that two interstate moves in as many years is enough for me.  I’m not leaving.

What will come in 2013?  I’m hoping for big things.  I’ve renewed my passport and hope to use it.  Got some writing and other entrepreneurial goals to get after.  The constant battle of enough exercise versus healthy-enough eating will undoubtedly continue.  But mostly, I aim to balance an attitude of gratitude with a drive to make a dream a reality.  Be thankful for what I have, and muster the confidence in my abilities to work for what I want.

And… to make my sartorial mark on the world, raise a few eyebrows and offend all of Texas with the fiesta pants.

For Auld Lang Syne, y’all.  See you in the New Year!
