optimism and hate

The Solstice Festival was at Pan Am Park this past Saturday in Austin. Saturday for me was one of those days that was just so perfect: feeling that feeling of being outside walking around, knowing that things are pretty good in your life that makes me want to live it over and over. Plus there were free beer tickets, so that’s always a nice bonus.

Wandering around the festival and checking out the vendors, I had the good fortune of meeting Cammryn of visyoulize, whose clothing line made me smile right away. She’s one of those people who just exudes positivity and joy, and she was selling some pretty sweet snapbacks too, so naturally I took a gander. What a nice girl, and spreading a simple (and necessary) message that all of us need to hear. Love her look, her vibe, and her hats: check her out!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the recent events in South Carolina and how this and so many other incidents are motivated by hate. We need to see more of what Cammryn is doing, and less spewing of hatred and violence among us. We are all in this together, and it’s just not going to work if we’ve all got it out for one another and our lives are based on being ‘anti’-whatever. More love and acceptance, less hatred and negativity. I really don’t know if it’s any more complicated than that.
